My husband loves pies better than cakes so I try to find a lot of pie recipes to make for him. This is an interesting combination and he really liked it.

Ingredients

9"
unbaked pie shell
4 c
apples, peeled, cored & sliced
1 Tbsp
self-rising flour
1/2 c
granulated sugar
1/2 tsp
salt
1 Tbsp
butter or margarine

TOPPING:

1/2 c
granulated sugar
1 Tbsp
butter or margarine, melted
3/4 c
shredded coconut
1
egg, beaten
1/4 c
milk

How to Make Apple Macaroon Pie

Step-by-Step

  • 1Preheat oven to 400. Rub a little egg white or milk on bottom of crust to prevent it from being soggy.
  • 2Place apple slices in bottom of pie shell. Combine the flour, sugar & salt then sprinkle over apples. Dot with the tablespoon of butter and bake on 400 for 20 minutes.
  • 3TOPPING: While pie is baking, prepare topping by combining the sugar, melted butter, coconut, egg and milk. Remove pie from oven and reduce temperature to 350.
  • 4Spread topping on hot pie and return to oven. Bake @ 350 an additional 30 minutes or until pie is done.
