My son-in-law is gluten intolerant, and so most desserts are 'not for him'. I felt so sorry for the poor man that I searched through all of my 'pesach' desserts and converted this one for him. He loved it so much that it is now 'his' dessert. I hope that you enjoy it as well.

prep time 20 Min
cook time 45 Min

yield 6-8 serving(s)

Ingredients

  • 6 - granny smith apples
  • 60 mls - honey
  • 1 - tablespoon butter, softened
  • 60 mls - sweet wine
  • TOPPING
  • 100 grms - ground almonds
  • 100 grms - white sugar
  • 100 grms - butter or marg.
  • 1 - large egg.

How To Make apple/almond pie

  • Step 1
    Heat oven to 180C/350F.
  • Step 2
Peel, core and slice apples. Put into a 8 -9" deep pie dish. Add butter, wine and honey. Cover with glad wrap and microwave on high for approx 5 mins.
  • Step 3
In another bowl mix together ground almonds, butter/marg, egg, sugar. When combined spoon over the apples and spread out smoothly.
  • Step 4
Bake uncovered in the centre of the oven for 45 mins until cooked through and golden brown. That's all. We love this pie, so serve it with cream or ice-cream and enjoy.
