- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt

- 1/2 cup lime juice
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 teaspoon grated lime peel

- 4 - egg whites
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 cup heavy cream, whipped
- 1 - 9 inch pastry shell
- 1/4 cup pistachio nuts, chopped
- - lime slices for garnish
- - heavy cream, whipped, to top
How To Make americana key lime pie

Step 1Thoroughly mix gelatin, 1/2 cup sugar and salt in saucepan.

Step 2Beat together egg yolks, lime juice and water; stir into gelatin mixture.

Step 3Cook and stir over medium heat just until mixture comes to boiling.

Step 4Remove from heat; stir in grated peel.

Step 5Add food coloring sparingly to tint pale green.

Step 6Chill, stirring occasionally, until the mixture mounds slightly when dropped from a spoon.
