My family gets together every year around Christmas time to make this recipe. It is a labor of love because it takes some time to roll out, cut all the dough and fry it up, but it is well worth it!

Ingredients
- 1/4 pound butter, softened
- 1 3/4 cups sugar
- 8 - eggs, beaten well
- 2 tablespoons pure vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons anise extract
- 8 cups flour, sifted
- 4 tablespoons baking powder
- pinch salt
How To Make strufili - italian honey balls

Step 1Cream butter and sugar. Add the eggs, vanilla and anise.

Step 2Combine the sifted flour, baking powder and salt and add slowly to the wet mixture.

Step 3Form into a dough ball. Roll into 1/2” logs and slice into 3/4” sections.

Step 4Deep fry. Top with honey and nonpareils or powdered sugar.
