1Split the vanilla beans with a sharp knife and chop into half inch pieces. Place Vodka, chopped beans and corn syrup in an airtight glass container. Store in a cool place for 3-6 months. You will have usable extract in about a month give or take. Shake the container once a week. When bottling I put a few pieces of bean in each bottle.
2Use 12 beans per pt.
Use 24 beans per qt.
Use 96 beans per gal.

Do not discard your beans. Add more vodka and use them again. It will not be as strong but, it will still be good vanilla.
