This is my Grandma Rose's frosting that she used on her spice cake.

Ingredients For raisin nut frosting

  • 1 c
    brown sugar
  • 1/4 c
    water
  • 2
    egg whites ; beaten
  • 1/2 c
    raisins ; chopped up fine
  • 1/2 c
    chopped walnuts

How To Make raisin nut frosting

    Boil the sugar and water to a firm ball stage.
  • 2
    Pour SLOWLY over beaten egg whites , beating until cool and the right consistency to spread.

    Add the raisins and nuts , and for a happy change add a few drops of maple flavoring.
