My mom gave me this recipe, she has made these for Thanksgiving dinner many times. Personally, I prefer these to pumpkin pie.

1 c
all purpose flour
1/2 c
brown sugar
1/2 c
quick cooking oats
1/2 c
butter or margarine
16 oz
can pumpkin puree
13 oz
can evaporated milk
2 large
3/4 c
1/2 tsp
ground ginger
1/2 tsp
1/4 tsp
ground cloves
1 tsp
ground cinnamon
1/2 c
brown sugar
1/2 c
chopped pecans
2 Tbsp
butter or margarine

How to Make Pumpkin Squares


  • 1Combine flour, oats, 1/2 c. brown sugar, and 1/2 c. butter in mixing bowl; mix until crumbly. Press into an ungreased 9X13 pan. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes.
  • 2Combine pumpkin, milk, eggs, sugar, salt, and spices in mixing bowl; beat well. Pour into cooled crust. Bake at 350 for 20 minutes.
  • 3In the meantime, combine 1/2 c. brown sugar, chopped pecans, and 2 Tbsp. butter; sprinkle over pumpkin filling. Return to oven and bake 15-20 minutes more or until set. Cool.
