pecan pie bars
I have been searching for a great pecan pie recipe that would be just the right ratio of pecans, filling, and crust, that would feed a crowd. I put my own spin on it by replacing the traditional corn syrup with Lyle's Golden Syrup, which is made from sugar cane. The difference in taste is out of this world! This has quickly become a family favorite for the holidays. You can purchase Lyle's Golden Syrup on Amazon; the taste difference is truly worth it when replacing corn syrup in a recipe.

- 4 cups pecans, halved
- 6 large eggs
- 1 cup Lyle's golden syrup
- 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 3 tablespoons vanilla extract
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
How To Make pecan pie bars
-
Step 1Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Place the rack in the middle shelf.
-
Step 2Place pie crusts on the counter for fifteen minutes to come to room temperature.
-
Step 3Cut and piece together the three pie crusts to fit a 12" X 17" jellyroll pan, making sure all seams are sealed, crimping an edge along the pie.
-
Step 4Place the prepared pie crust into the refrigerator while preparing the pecans and filling.
-
Step 5Heat a large skillet on medium heat, and add pecan halves, stirring frequently until fragrant and slightly toasted. Be careful not to burn them. Remove from the skillet and set aside to cool.
-
Step 6Whisk eggs in a large bowl, adding golden syrup, brown sugar, butter, salt, and vanilla.
-
Step 7Remove the pie crust from the refrigerator and arrange pecan halves in a single layer on the pie crust.
-
Step 8Slowly pour the filling mixture into the pie crust, and place it in the oven.
-
Step 9Bake for 35-40 minutes until the sheet pie puffs up and jiggles slightly in the middle, and the piecrust is golden.
-
Step 10Place on a wire rack to cool. Serve slightly warm or cool.
