pastry cream filling

While surfing the internet for recipes..I came across a site and found 5 different fillings for cupcakes, cakes and/or pastries. I haven't tried them, but I surely will soon. I love baking and like to use different fillings for my cupcakes..this was a real find for me. I am happy to share them with all of you.

Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons flour
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 6 tablespoons sugar
- 1 cup half and half....or 1/2 cup whipping cream plus 1/2 cup whole milk
- 4 - egg yolks
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
How To Make pastry cream filling

Step 1Blend all ingredients in a saucepan. Cook over medium heat until mixture reaches the consistency of a cream sauce. Remove from heat, add vanilla. Cool quickly.

Step 2To keep a skin forming on the top of the cream filling, brush with melted butter. This recipe makes 1 and 1/3 cup cream filling.
