This japanese dessert is made with the powdered agar-agar. Kanten is a regular dessert on the New Years Menu and is delicious and healthy.

Ingredients

kanten (agar-agar) powder
1 1/4 c
water
3 Tbsp
sugar
1 1/4 c
orange juice

orange, peeled and sectioned

How to Make ORANGE KANTEN (JAPANESE DESSERT)

Step-by-Step

  • 1In a medium saucepan, combine water and kanten powder on medium-heat and bring to a boil to dissolve the powder, stirring well.
  • 2Turn the heat down to low and simmer for about 5 minutes, add in the sugar and turn off the heat.
  • 3Add in the orange juice and stir well.
  • 4Place orange slices in individual jelly molds or glass bowls and pour the jelly mixture over the orange slices.
  • 5Refrigerate until set.
