nonna's italian cream

My grandmother, Ida, made this every Christmas. It is light and delicate and just something different than regular whipped cream. Wonderful alone, or on a pie, or a cookie ... be warned, it is addictive! My youngest daughter, Diana, 12, loves this cream with everything.

Ingredients

  • 15 ounces whole milk ricotta - well drained
  • 3 ounces cream cheese - room temperature
  • 3 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 7 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
  • - maraschino cherries/pistachios

How To Make nonna's italian cream

  • Step 1
    Blend well drained ricotta with the cream cheese using a hand mixer on low speed or by hand.
  • Step 2
    Add heavy cream, sugar and almond extract. Mix well.
  • Step 3
    Spoon into a decorative bowl and top with maraschino cherries (pistachios crushed or any other favorite topping). Chill at least one hour before serving. Enjoy!
