I've had this recipe for years and it's my go-to recipe for flan. They make a fantastic dessert for special occasions.

Ingredients

  • 5 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 can 12-oz. can evaporated milk
  • 1 cup half and half
  • 3 tablespoons instant coffee granules
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • whipped cream
  • a sprinkle of unsweetened cocoa powder or ground cinnamon - your choice

How To Make my favorite coffee flan

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Place eggs, sugar, milk, half and half, coffee granules and vanilla in a blender and blend until well mixed and smooth.
  • Step 2
    Prepare 6 custard cups and divide mixture evenly in each. Place custard cups in a pan and add hot water to the pan halfway up the cups. Be careful not to splash water into the custards!
  • Step 3
    Bake custards for 45 to 60 minutes or until the centers are firm but still jiggle a little. Test with a knife inserted into the middle - do not overbake.
  • Step 4
    Remove cups and chill for 2 hours. Dollop each with whipped cream and sprinkle with coca powder or cinnamon.
