This recipe comes from my mama, Joyce Craig. I believe she found it in one of Sister Schubert's cook books but neither she nor I can say for sure.

Ingredients For mama's chocolate cobbler

  • 2 stick
    butter
  • 1 1/4 c
    sugar
  • 1 1/2 c
    self rising flour
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 3/4 c
    whole milk
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 6 Tbsp
    baking cocoa
  • 2 c
    boiling water

How To Make mama's chocolate cobbler

    Put butter in long casserole dish and bake at 350 degrees until butter is melted.

    Mix 1 1/4 C sugar, then flour, then vanilla, then milk in bowl.

    Pour over melted butter. DO NOT STIR.
  • 4
    Mix 1 C sugar & cocoa in bowl. Sprinkle over batter. DO NOT STIR.

    Pour boiling water on top. DO NOT STIR. Bake 30-45 minutes or until golden brown.
