This is my Mother's Mother's recipe. My grandma passed November 2006. I have many of her recipes. She did give several to her daughter in law, my Aunt. I'm glad!

Ingredients
- 1 cup sifted flour
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons cocoa powder
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (important)
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Step 1Sift dry ingredients together, add milk, butter, vanilla & nuts.

Step 2Spread into 8 x 8 pan and pour over this batter; 1/2 c. white sugar, 1/2 brown sugar, 5 T. cocoa, 1 c. hot water, pinch of salt.

Step 3Bake 35 or 40 minutes at 325. Let cool in pan & serve bottom side up with whipped cream or ice cream.
