I think these would be fun to make just for the novelty of it and especially with kids. You could even pour out the mixture into a shallow pan & use cookie cutters to make different shapes! Try making your own Peeps for Easter, I could really get creative with this one. Haven't tried this one yet, but it is definitely on my "to do" list.

Ingredients

1/4 c
cornstarch
1/3 c
confectioners' sugar
1 pkg
gelatin, unflavored
1/3 c
water
2/3 c
granulated sugar
1/2 c
light corn syrup
1 pinch
salt
1 tsp
vanilla extract

How to Make Homemade Marshmallows

Step-by-Step

  • 1Sift together cornstarch and confectioners sugar. Grease a baking pan well.
    Sprinkle 1 Tablespoon of the sugar mixture into the pan and tilt to evenly coat the bottom and sides. Do not shake out the excess.
  • 2Combine the water and gelatin in a saucepan to soften. Let it sit for 5 - 7 minutes.
    Stir in the granulated sugar and heat over low heat, stirring until all is dissolved. Combine the gelatin mixture, corn syrup, salt and vanilla with an electric mixer. ( A stand mixer would probably be best). Beat on high for 15 minutes until peaks form.
  • 3Spread the mixture into the baking pan. Let sit until set, about 2-3 hours. Slice the mixture into desired sizes.
    Roll each piece in the cornstarch mixture. Place on paper towells and let stand until dry. Store in airtight container.
