Web Photo I think these would be fun to make just for the novelty of it and especially with kids. You could even pour out the mixture into a shallow pan & use cookie cutters to make different shapes! Try making your own Peeps for Easter, I could really get creative with this one. Haven't tried this one yet, but it is definitely on my "to do" list.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/3 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 1 package gelatin, unflavored
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

How To Make homemade marshmallows

  • Step 1
Sift together cornstarch and confectioners sugar. Grease a baking pan well. Sprinkle 1 Tablespoon of the sugar mixture into the pan and tilt to evenly coat the bottom and sides. Do not shake out the excess.
  • Step 2
Combine the water and gelatin in a saucepan to soften. Let it sit for 5 - 7 minutes. Stir in the granulated sugar and heat over low heat, stirring until all is dissolved. Combine the gelatin mixture, corn syrup, salt and vanilla with an electric mixer. ( A stand mixer would probably be best). Beat on high for 15 minutes until peaks form.
  • Step 3
Spread the mixture into the baking pan. Let sit until set, about 2-3 hours. Slice the mixture into desired sizes. Roll each piece in the cornstarch mixture. Place on paper towells and let stand until dry. Store in airtight container.
