granola bars

These are great for a protein supplement during exercise. I got this original recipe from a co-worker and keep modifying each time. This picture has almonds, pecans,and dried cherries.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar, light
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar, light
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1//2 cup unbleached wheat flour
  • 2 1/2 cups oats (not quick)
  • 1 1/2 cups honey

How To Make granola bars

  • Step 1
    Optional other ingredients: your choice of desired fruits/nuts/chocolate chips. I usually go with 1/2 of the optional ingredients.
  • Step 2
    9x9 glass pan greased for thicker bars. a cake pan or small cookie sheet can also be used for thinner bars.
  • Step 3
    mix all dry ingredients together thoroughly prior to adding liquids. press into pan.I use saran or a plastic wrap to get a smooth top.
  • Step 4
    Bake at 325 for 22-25 minutes Cut after cooling and wrap in saran to keep fresh or place in individual snack bags.
