I would always ask my Grandma to make me a pan of these bars for my birthday. I could always tell when she was cooking them, the house smelled wonderful when I walked in.

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup raisins
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
How To Make grandma's raisin bars

Step 1In a sauce pan, gently heat shortening, sugar, water, raisins, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and salt for 3 minutes. Cool.

Step 2Add flour, baking soda, baking powder and vanilla. Pour into a greased and lightly floured cookie sheet pan. Bake 350 for 20-25 minutes.
