This rice pudding recipe has been handed down through the family for generations. It is rich, creamy and delicious. It makes a big batch, so I usually plan on some for gifting to friends.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup uncooked rice
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 8 cups milk
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 1/3 cups sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • cinnamon

How To Make grandma debbie's rice pudding

  • Step 1
    In a large pot bring water, rice and butter to a boil.
  • Step 2
    Add 8 cups (2 quarts) of milk and return to a boil. Reduce to low and continue to cook for 1 1/2 hours, stirring every 15 minutes.
  • Step 3
    Remove from heat and add 4 eggs, 1 1/3 cups of sugar and vanilla.
  • Step 4
    Pour into large bowl, sprinkle with cinnamon, refrigerate and enjoy!
