I absolutely love gingerbread and my mom makes it for me,especially in the winter time. I love gingerbread and a hot cup of coffee.

  • 1 1/2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 3/4 tsp
    ground ginger
  • 3/4 tsp
    ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 1/2 c
  • 1/4 c
    packed brown sugar
  • 1
  • 1/2 c
  • 1/2 c
    boiling water

How to Make Gingerbread


  1. Grease and lightly flour a 9x1 1/2 inch round baking pan.
  2. Combine the first 6 ingredients in a mixer bowl and beat shortening on medium speed for about 30 seconds.
  3. Add brown sugar,beat till fluffy.Add egg and molasses and beat for 1 minute.
  4. Add dry ingredients and water alternately to beaten mixture,beating after each addition.
  5. Pour into prepared pan. Bake at 350 for 30 to 35 minutes or till done. Cool and serve!
