I absolutely love gingerbread and my mom makes it for me,especially in the winter time. I love gingerbread and a hot cup of coffee.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 - egg
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1/2 cup boiling water

How To Make gingerbread

  • Step 1
    Grease and lightly flour a 9x1 1/2 inch round baking pan.
  • Step 2
    Combine the first 6 ingredients in a mixer bowl and beat shortening on medium speed for about 30 seconds.
  • Step 3
    Add brown sugar,beat till fluffy.Add egg and molasses and beat for 1 minute.
  • Step 4
    Add dry ingredients and water alternately to beaten mixture,beating after each addition.
  • Step 5
    Pour into prepared pan. Bake at 350 for 30 to 35 minutes or till done. Cool and serve!
