Gingerbread and Rum what a great combination!!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup applesauce( use either sweet or unsweetened)
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • 1/4 cup cranberries
  • 1/2 cup rum
  • 1/3 cup unsulfured light molasses
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 - eggs
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon( freshly grated is the bomb!)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

How To Make gingerbread apple bars w/ rum :d

  • Step 1
    Heat oven to 350°F. Oil 8-inch square pan lightly.
  • Step 2
    place raisins and cranberries in a sauce pan and pour in rum and bring to a boil and let simmer till rum is absorbed and set aside.
  • Step 3
    Pour in applesauce into the raisin/cranberry pan. Cook and stir on low heat until mixture comes to a boil. Remove from heat.
  • Step 4
    Stir in molasses and baking soda. Cool slightly
  • Step 5
    Combine eggs and sugar in large bowl. Beat in 1/4 cup Crisco® Oil gradually
  • Step 6
    Combine flour, cinnamon, ginger, cloves and salt in small bowl
  • Step 7
    Add to egg mixture alternately with applesauce mixture, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Spoon into pan.
  • Step 8
    Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan on cooling rack. Cut into bars
