This is a recipe out of a taste of home magazine by Kathleen Cox of Wyoming, Michigan. It is a family favorite at the holidays, we have made it every year since first trying it, which has been about three years.

Ingredients For delicious butternut squash dessert casserole

3 lbbutternut squash, peeled, seeded and cubed

3/4 cmilk

6 Tbspbutter, melted

3eggs, beaten
-
1/2 tspmadagascar bourbon vanilla extract

3/4 cgranulated sugar
-
3 Tbspall-purpose flour
-
1/2 tspground cinnamon
-
1/8 tspground cloves
-
1/8 tspground nutmeg
- TOPPING
-
1/2 cvanilla wafer crumbs
-
1/4 cpacked brown sugar
-
2 Tbspbutter, melted
How To Make delicious butternut squash dessert casserole

1Place butternut squash in a large saucepan or dutch oven; cover with water. Bring to a boil; cover and cook for 25-30 minutes or until tender.

2Drain and place in a mixing bowl; beat until smooth. Add milk, butter, eggs and vanilla; mix well. Combine the dry ingredients; add to squash mixture and mix well.

3Transfer to a greased 2 quart baking dish. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.

4Meanwhile, in a small bowl, combine the topping ingredients until crumbly; sprinkle over squash. Bake, uncovered, for 12-15 minutes or until heated through.
