Ingredients
- CRUST
- 1/2 cup vegetable shortening
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- TOPPING
- 14oz cans sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup butterscotch chips
- 1 cup coconut, flaked
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
How To Make coconut-caramel bars

Step 1Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease a 9-inch square baking pan. To make crust, cream the shortening and powdered sugar in a medium bowl. Gradually work in the flour. Press evenly in prepared pan. Bake for 14 minutes.

Step 2Meanwhile, make the topping: In a large bowl, combine the condensed milk, butterscotch chips, coconut, and vanilla and stir until blended. Pour over the hot crust. Bake for 25-30 minutes longer, until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool before cutting.
