This is one of my granddaughters favorite desserts. She requested it for her birthday instead of a traditional cake. My family likes it warm, not hot with ice cream.

Ingredients

  • FILLING
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
  • TOPPING
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 cups water

How To Make chocolate cobbler

  • Step 1
    Sift dry ingredients together into a deep dish large pie pan or dish.
  • Step 2
    Stir in milk, butter, vanilla, spread evenly.
  • Step 3
    Topping: mix sugars with cocoa and sprinkle over batter.
  • Step 4
    Pour water over all, do not mix.
  • Step 5
    Bake at 350 for 45 minutes on a cookie sheet to catch any drips.
  • Step 6
    Serve warm or cold with whipped cream or ice cream.
