This is 1 of my many favorite recipes. This recipe is better after refrigeration.

Ingredients For chess squares

  • 1 box
    yellow cake mix
  • 1 stick
    butter, cut into slices
  • 1
    egg
  • 1 c
    pecans, chopped
  • TOPPING
  • 1 pkg
    (8 oz.) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 box
    powdered sugar
  • 2
    eggs
  • 1 Tbsp
    vanilla

How To Make chess squares

  • 1
    Directions for dry mixture - In a large mixing bowl: mix cake mix, egg, butter and pecans. Mix well.

    Place mixture in a 9 X 13-inch baking dish.

    Directions for topping mixture - In a large mixing bowl: mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, eggs and vanilla together. Mix well.

    Pour topping mixture over dry mixture.

    Bake for 30 - 40 minutes at 350 degrees.

    Cool completely.

    Cut into squares.
