This is 1 of my many favorite recipes. This recipe is better after refrigeration.

Ingredients For chess squares

1 boxyellow cake mix
-
1 stickbutter, cut into slices
-
1egg
-
1 cpecans, chopped
- TOPPING
-
1 pkg(8 oz.) cream cheese, softened

1 boxpowdered sugar
-
2eggs
-
1 Tbspvanilla
How To Make chess squares

1Directions for dry mixture - In a large mixing bowl: mix cake mix, egg, butter and pecans. Mix well.

2Place mixture in a 9 X 13-inch baking dish.

3Directions for topping mixture - In a large mixing bowl: mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, eggs and vanilla together. Mix well.

4Pour topping mixture over dry mixture.

5Bake for 30 - 40 minutes at 350 degrees.

6Cool completely.

7Cut into squares.
