cherry mash puppy chow

I was craving something sweet. I had bought the cereals to make puppy chow a while ago. While I was getting the chocolate chips out I saw the cherry chips I had bought for the Cherry Mash bars I love. So I thought to my myself, HMMMMMM. Why not! Ta Da, Cherry Mash Puppy Chow!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup cherry chips
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
  • 9 cups chex cereal, your favorite type. i use the rice. (divided in 1/2)
  • 1/4 cup butter (divided in 1/2)
  • 1/2 cup extra crunchy peanut butter (divided in 1/2)
  • dash - salt
  • 2-3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2-1 jar ice cream chopped nut topping (just the right size and saltiness), or use chopped peanuts

How To Make cherry mash puppy chow

  • Step 1
    Take out 2 large bowls. Put cherry chips and almond flavoring in one bowl and the chocolate chips and vanilla extract in the other. To each bowl add 2 tablespoons butter and 1/4 cup peanut butter.
  • Step 2
    Put one bowl at a time in the microwave, starting at 30 seconds and then stirring and adding 10-15 seconds at a time until smooth and completely melted. Put the 2nd bowl in and do the same thing. Once the chips are melted and completely mixed with the butter and peanut butter put 1/2 the cereal in each bowl and stir unti evenly coated.
  • Step 3
    Take a 1 gallon zip lock baggie and add about 2-3 cups of powdered sugar and dash of salt. Dump the coated chex cereal into the baggie and shake until well coated. Pour out into a storage bowl and enjoy.
