This is so delicious! This recipe was scribbled on a piece of paper, without much direction. So I had to put it into recipe form! My Florida neighbor made these little treats, and I needed to have the recipe. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed :)

    bottom layer
  • 1/2 c
    butter, softened
  • 2
    egg yolks, reserve whites
  • 1/2 c
    brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 c
    flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • TOPPING

  • 1/2 c
    chopped walnuts
  • 2
    egg whites
  • 1 c
    brown sugar

How to Make DELICIOUS CARAMEL SQUARES!

Step-by-Step

  1. Mix butter, 1/2 cup of brown sugar, egg yolks, and vanilla.
  2. Add flour, salt, and baking powder.
  3. Press into a greased 8 X 8, or 7 X 11 inch pan. Sprinkle with walnuts.
  4. Whip 2 egg whites, and gradually add 1 cup of brown sugar.
  5. Spread topping over walnuts.
  6. Bake at 350 degrees, for 20 to 25 minutes.
  7. Cool and cut into squares.
