Ingredients
- 11/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup boiling water
- 1 teaspoon instant coffee powder
- 2 cups butterscotch chips
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- - powdered sugar
How To Make butterscotch coffee spice bars

Step 1Preheat oven to 350F. In a small bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and cinnamon; set aside.

Step 2In a large bowl, combine shortening and brown sugar; beat until creamy. Add egg and beat well.

Step 3In a measuring cup, combine water and coffee powder. Alternately blend flour mixture with dissolved coffee into butter mixture. Stir in butterscotch chips and pecans. Spread into a greased and floured 9 by 13 pan. Bake at 350F for 30-35 minutes. Cool completely. Sprinkle with powdered sugar. Cut into squares.
