Ingredients For butterscotch coffee spice bars

11/2 call purpose flour

1 tspbaking powder

1/2 tspbaking soda
-
1/2 tspsalt
-
1/2 tspcinnamon
-
1/2 cshortening
-
1 cbrown sugar, firmly packed

1 lgegg
-
1/2 cboiling water
-
1 tspinstant coffee powder
-
2 cbutterscotch chips
-
1/2 cchopped pecans
-
powdered sugar
How To Make butterscotch coffee spice bars

1Preheat oven to 350F. In a small bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and cinnamon; set aside.

2In a large bowl, combine shortening and brown sugar; beat until creamy. Add egg and beat well.

3In a measuring cup, combine water and coffee powder. Alternately blend flour mixture with dissolved coffee into butter mixture. Stir in butterscotch chips and pecans. Spread into a greased and floured 9 by 13 pan. Bake at 350F for 30-35 minutes. Cool completely. Sprinkle with powdered sugar. Cut into squares.
