    eggs, beaten
  • 2 c
  • 1 c
    butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp
    almond extract
  • 1 1/3 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 c
    baking cocoa
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 1 c
    maraschino cherries
  • 1/2 c
    chopped nuts
  • ICING:

  • 2 c
    confectioners sugar
  • 6 Tbsp
    baking cocoa
  • 1/4 c
    butter, softened
  • 1 tsp
  • 1/4 c
  • 1/4 c
    chopped nuts

How to Make Black Forest Brownies


  1. In a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs, sugar, butter, vanilla, and almond extract.
  2. Combine the flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt; stir into egg mixture until blended. Fold in cherries and nuts. Pour into greased 13x9x2" baking pan. Bake at 350* for 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
  3. Meanwhile, for icing, in a small mixing bowl, beat the confectioners sugar, cocoa, milk, butter and vanilla until smooth. Frost brownies. Sprinkle with nuts.
