How To Make best homemade cinnamon rolls
-
Step 1Butter a 9x13 pan with a good amount of butter to prevent sticking while baking. In small bowl, combine your warm milk, melted butter, sugar and yeast and let set while preparing the next step.
-
Step 2Sift 4 cups of all purpose flour into a large bowl. Make a well and pour the milk mixture in. Using a large heavy spoon, combine the wet and dry mixture just until it is completely combined, it will be sticky. Cover with a tea towel or plastic wrap and let rise in a warm place for an hour.
-
Step 3Sprinkle 1/2 cup flour, baking powder and salt on top of the risen dough and punch down, making into a ball. Use the other 1/2 cup flour to gently knead the dough just until it does not stick on the surface, be careful not to knead too much.
-
Step 4Roll the dough into a large rectangle, about 1/2 thick and square corners even. Spread the slightly softened (not runny) butter over the dough. Sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture next. Gently press into the dough.
-
Step 5Beginning with the long edge in front of you, gently but firm roll dough into a long log and pinch the seams together. Using a very sharp knife or dental floss, cut into 15 cinnamon rolls, about 1 1/2 inches thick and place into your buttered dish. Cover and place in a warm place for 30 minutes to an hour to rise more.
-
Step 6Place the rolls in an oven that has been preheated to 350 degrees and bake 25 to 30 minutes, careful not to overbake. (should be lightly browned on the top)
-
Step 7Use a hand mixer to blend the cream cheese, butter, milk, vanilla and powdered sugar until smooth. Slather the frosting over the warmed rolls after coming out of the oven to allow the frosting to spread. I keep these in the refrigerator because of the cream cheese icing, they heat well in the microwave for about 25 seconds. Enjoy...
