We made this for an adult training camp in 2015. Yes, I did it wrong! For those of you that know me, I know it is a shock, but I admit to it! :)

Ingredients

  • 1 - gfs can strawberry pie filling
  • 1 - gfs crushed pineapple drained (this is where i went wrong, i didn't drain it)
  • 2 bags mini marshmallows
  • 2 boxes chocolate cake mix
  • 2 cans cherry coke (may not need it all)

How To Make banana split dump cake

  • Step 1
As with the dump cake that I do, Mama Duck came up with this recipe. Dump the strawberry pie filling in the bottom of a 14 inch dutch oven lined WELL with heavy duty tin foil. Top with the DRAINED (again, here is where I messed up and the flavor was great but that texture and runny consistency was rather off-putting) pineapple. Top liberally with those miniature marshmallows. Sprinkle with the dry cake mixes. We used cherry coke, the single dump cake takes one, so this should take 2. Drizzle the cake with the pop. Top with a sheet of heavy duty tin foil so your charcoal ash doesn't go into the dutch oven when you lift the lid...cook to the temperature on the cake mix and check for it being done at the time on the box (but it will take longer, just check it at that time). When the cake on top springs back when you push on it gently with your finger in the center, it is done).

With this as a title, I would think there would be banana somewhere in the recipe. She didn't add any, so I think a combination of banana pudding and cool whip would make a wonderful topping. Or maybe banana ice cream? YUM!! Or maybe add very ripe banana slices into the cake itself? I'm thinking after the mini marshmallows.
