Had this once at Marie Callendars. It was so good I went home and made my own recipe for it. Love the smell of the apples baking in the oven.

Ingredients

  • APPLE PIE INGREDIENTS
  • 4 large fuji apples sliced thin
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • - hagen daz vanilla ice cream
  • BUTTER RUM SAUCE INGREDIENTS
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream or half and half
  • 1 teaspoon rum extract
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

How To Make apple pie sundae

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 400 degrees
  • Step 2
    Spray A 9 X 13 inch pan with cooking spray just to coat pan
  • Step 3
    Arrange apple slices in pan
  • Step 4
    Mix together 1/4 cup white sugar, 1/4 cup brown sugar and the cinnamon
  • Step 5
    Sprinkle over the apple slices
  • Step 6
    Mix 1/3 cup white sugar with the flour
  • Step 7
    Cut in the butter until crumbly
  • Step 8
    Spoon mixture over apples
  • Step 9
    Bake at 400 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes, or until done
  • Step 10
    Let cool 20 minutes

    To make the butter rum sauce: In a medium sauce pan combine the sugar, butter, and cream.
  • Step 12
    Using medium to low heat, heat the sugar, butter and cream until the butter melts and the sugar dissolves
  • Step 13
    Add the rum extract and vanilla and stir until mixed in.
  • Step 14
    To assemble: place a serving of apple mixture in a bowl or goblet, top the apple mixture with 1 scoop of vanilla ice cream. Drizzle the caramel sauce over the ice cream.
