My mom would make these as a treat once and a while and us kids could never get enough of them.

Ingredients

  • 2/3 c
    flour
  • 3
    packets cream of wheat apple cinnamon instant hot cereal
  • 1 Tbsp
    sugar
  • 1-1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 2 large
    eggs, separated
  • 2/3 c
    milk
  • 1 Tbsp
    canola oil
  • ·
    oil for frying
  • ·
    powdered sugar for coating

How to Make Apple-ciinamon fritters

Step-by-Step

  1. In bowl, mix flour, cereal, sugar, baking powder and salt. In another bowl, beat egg yolks, milk and oil until combined.
  2. Add egg mix to flour mix, stir until blended. Let sit for about 5 mins. Heat 1-1/2" oil in lg skillet over med-high heat.
  3. In small bowl, whisk egg whites until stiff peak forms. Gently stir egg whites into batter. Drop batter by teaspoonfuls into oil. Fry 3-5 mins, or until golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Dust w/ powdered sugar or serve w/ warmed maple syrup, delicious!
