My hubby, I, and one of my granddaughters love my dense, full of chocolate and creamy peanut butter brownies, while others in the family love the pumpkin-chocolate brownies. So I decided to make a pan with both flavors divided. Hmm... hard to decide, no?

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup softened salted butter
  • 1-3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 4 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup good quality baking cocoa
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/2 cup 100% pure pumpkin puree
  • 1/4 cup good quality dark chocolate baking chips
  • 1/4 cup pumpkin spice baking chips
  • 8 ounces favorite chocolate frosting

How To Make half pumpkin half peanut butter chocolate brownies

  • Step 1
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, sugar, vanilla, and eggs together until combined. Beat in the flour. Slowly beat in the baking cocoa. Divide the batter into 2 medium bowls.
  • Step 2
Spoon the creamy peanut butter into the chocolate mix in one of the bowls. Beat on med-low just until combined.
  • Step 3
Spread the peanut butter-chocolate mix into 1 half of a cooking-sprayed,13 x 9 baking pan. Smooth it out.
  • Step 4
Spoon the applesauce and pumpkin into the chocolate mix in the second bowl. Beat on low just until combined.
  • Step 5
Spoon the pumpkin-chocolate mix into the other half of the baking pan, and smooth it out.
  • Step 6
Bake for 20 minutes, turning the pan halfway through. After 20 minutes, check for doneness with a toothpick. The toothpick will still be a little moist.
  • Step 7
Sprinkle the dark chocolate chips on the top of the peanut butter-chocolate half. Sprinkle the pumpkin baking chips on the other half.
  • Step 8
Bake an additional 10 minutes. Check for doneness with a toothpick. There will still be a little of the batter clinging, but it shouldn't be too moist. Let cool 10 minutes.
  • Step 9
Add the frosting to a small microwave-safe bowl. Microwave 30 seconds or until smooth. Whisk to make sure it's smooth, and then drizzle the frosting over all the brownies. You may want to cut the brownies before frosting to make it easier.
