vanilla ice cream
(1 RATING)
During the summer of 1961, when Frank and I were attending summer school at Mississippi College, we were in charge of making ice cream for the Baptist Student Union social. I had left my cookbook at home, so we went to a bookstore in Jackson and copied my trusty recipe from the Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook. I'm not sure, but I think we got paid back for our "thievery": the last freezer of ice cream, our freezer, got salt in it and never froze. Of course, back then Frank was cranking the cream by hand, so the loss of a whole gallon of ice cream was a "tragedy" for us.
