This is Grandma's recipe. I remember many a hot, sultry Louisiana summer afternoon sitting in the shade of the pecan trees or down by the river with my family and eating homemade ice cream. Being the littlest member of the family my job was to sit on the ice cream freezer while Daddy and my Uncle Billy turned the crank! Sneaking a piece of the salted ice was a treat! Grandpa's job was to keep the freezer full of ice and salt. Daddy loved to lick the paddle! Such fun memories!
