  • 2 Tbsp
  • 1/8 tsp
  • 1/8 tsp
  • 2 c
  • 4 oz
    sweet chocolate, melted
  • 2
    eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 c
    coconut, shredded
  • 2 c
    light cream or half and half
  • 1/2 c
    chopped pecans

How to Make German Chocolate Ice Cream


  1. Combine sugar, flour, salt and cinnamon in a 2 quart saucepan.
  2. Gradually add milk and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened.
  3. Cook additional 2 minutes and remove from heat.
  4. Blend in melted chocolate.
  5. Blend a small amount of hot mixture into eggs; return all to pan, stirring constantly.
  6. Cook 1 minute (DO NOT BOIL).
  7. Remove from heat; add coconut.
  8. Cool and then blend in cream; chill.
  9. Stir in nuts and churn-freeze. Makes 2 quarts.
