A very dear neighbor gave me this recipe and it makes the ice cream real smooth and delicious, since then it is the only one I use.

Ingredients

eggs
2 c
milk----better if you use half and half
1 c
sugar
1/4 tsp
salt
2 c
whipping cream
1 Tbsp
vanilla extract

How to Make French Vanilla Ice Cream

Step-by-Step

  • 1In top of double boiler beat egg yolks and milk, add sugar and salt. Cook stirring constantly over hot NOT boiling water until thick enough to coat a metal spoon. Let cool. Add cream and vanilla. Freeze by putting in the container of the ice cream maker and using the following amount of ice and salt
  • 2If you are using the old fashioned ice cream maker you would use 8 parts ice to 1 part rock salt. This makes 1 1/2 quarts.
