Easy as pie, this smooth granita uses sweetened condensed milk as its creamy base. "Cook time" is freezer time.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups orange juice
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk (14 oz)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons orange zest
  • 3/4 teaspoon rose water

How To Make creamsicle granita

  • Step 1
    Combine all of the ingredients in a large bowl. Whisk until thoroughly combined.
  • Step 2
    Pour mixture into a glass 9 inch baking pan. Cover. Freeze until the edges are just frozen, about 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 hours.
  • Step 3
    Remove from freezer and use a fork to scrape the frozen granita up, moving it towards the center. Smooth the top, cover, and return to the freezer.
  • Step 4
    Repeat the freezing and scraping every half hour until the granita is firm. Usually about 4 hours total freezing time.
