caramel apple sundae / sauce
Pioneer woman's recipe. I added a little salt and divided recipe in half for 2 big servings or 4 small servings. Quick and easy. Hubby loves this little dessert topping. Enjoy!

Ingredients
- 2 - granny smith apples, peeled and cored. slice thin or dice into small chunks
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 stick butter, plus
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- dash salt
- - cookie crumbles for topping
- - ice cream
How To Make caramel apple sundae / sauce

Step 1In skillet, saute' apples over medium high heat, using 1 tablespoon of butter. Cook until apples are tender, but still firm.

Step 2Remove apples from pan and set aside.

Step 3Over medium heat, add 1/2 stick of butter and heavy cream. Stir until sugar is dissolved.

Step 4Add heavy cream and dash of salt. Stir and let sauce thicken a bit (about 1-2 minutes).

Step 5Turn heat to low. Add apple pieces back in to mixture. Add cinnamon. Stir and let thicken a little more (about 1-2 minutes again).

Step 6Place ice cream in serving bowls and spoon apple mixture on top. Add vanilla cookie crumbles or crumbled lady finger cookies, or other fancy cookies on side.
