Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 20 ounces can, pineapple slices
  • 12 - maraschino cherries
  • 1 cup flour
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • pinch salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/3 cup sour cream
  • 3 tablespoons canola oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla

How To Make yummy pineapple upside down cake

  • Step 1
    Melt butter and pour into 9" springform pan. Make sure butter coats the entire pan bottom and around the edge.
  • Step 2
    Sprinkle the brown sugar all the around the bottom.
  • Step 3
    Start the design by putting a ring of pineapple right in the center with a cherry in the middle.
  • Step 4
    Break the rest of the rings in two and make a pattern around the ring in the middle.
  • Step 5
    Put cherries in the middle of each pineapple slice.
  • Step 6
    Mix all the dry ingredients together in a bowl.
  • Step 7
    Whisk the wet ingredients in a bowl
  • Step 8
    Add the wet and dry ingredients together with a spatula. Do not overmix.
  • Step 9
    Pour the cake mix gently into the spring form pan, not disturbing the other ingredients already in the pan.
  • Step 10
    Place pan in 350 degree F oven on a cookie sheet to catch any drips.
  • Step 11
    Bake about 40 minutes or until center is set. Use a toothpick to check but do not stick toothpick all the way to the bottom.
  • Step 12
    Cool on wire rack for at least 45 minutes before turning upside down and serving.
