yummy apple crisp

If you like apples and love caramel this is the one for you. This is my mothers recipe. Though I went in and perfected it over the years. My brother-in-law loves this and he does not eat a lot of deserts. But every time we visit for dinner he asks where his desert is. I usually have to make a huge one, I have gotten to where I buy a big throw away roasting foil pan just for this reason.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup margarine or butter
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 cup flour siflted
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon, ground
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon allspice, ground
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 5 cups apples, granny smith coarsley sliced (5 to6)
  • 3 cups oats
  • 1 cup pecans, in pieces (chopped)
  • 1 cup coconut
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice concentrate

How To Make yummy apple crisp

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350* 9 inch baking pan. Lightly grease bottom of baking pan.
  • Step 2
    In bowl mix sliced apples, 1/2 cup flour set the rest of the flour to the side. Add 1/2 cup brown sugar to apples along with 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1/2 tsp nutmeg, 1/2 tsp allspice set the remaining aside for topping, stir in lemon juice, saves the apples from turning brown. Mix apples mixture and pour into baking pan and set a side.
  • Step 3
    Topping: work together in bowl Oats, remainder of flour, remainder of spices, remainder of brown sugar, add coconut and pecans, salt, mix melted butter in to mixture it should have a crumbly consistancy, sprinkle out over on to the apple mixture then press down on top of mixture.
  • Step 4
    Baked uncovered at 350* 50 to 60 minutes. Serve warm by itself , with Ice cream, or I prefer Heavy cream heated up.
