Ingredients

  • 2 large red grapefruit
  • 8 teaspoons rum
  • 2 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cut in small pieces
  • 2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1 pinch salt

How To Make texas red grapefruit brulée

  • Step 1
    Put rack in upper third of oven; preheat broiler to high.
  • Step 2
    Cut each grapefruit in half and loosen each segment.
  • Step 3
    Drizzle 2 teaspoons of rum over each half.
  • Step 4
    In small bowl, combine butter, sugar, flour, allspice and salt. Pinch ingredients together into soft crumbs. Sprinkle crumbs over grapefruit halves.
  • Step 5
    Place grapefruit halves on a broiler pan and broil until crumbs are lightly browned - about 5-7 minutes. Let cool slightly and serve.
