Ingredients

2 large
red grapefruit
8 tsp
rum
2 Tbsp
cold unsalted butter, cut in small pieces
2 Tbsp
dark brown sugar
2 Tbsp
all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp
ground allspice
1 pinch
salt

How to Make Texas Red Grapefruit Brulée

Step-by-Step

  • 1Put rack in upper third of oven; preheat broiler to high.
  • 2Cut each grapefruit in half and loosen each segment.
  • 3Drizzle 2 teaspoons of rum over each half.
  • 4In small bowl, combine butter, sugar, flour, allspice and salt. Pinch ingredients together into soft crumbs. Sprinkle crumbs over grapefruit halves.
  • 5Place grapefruit halves on a broiler pan and broil until crumbs are lightly browned - about 5-7 minutes. Let cool slightly and serve.
