- 6 - tart apples (like granny smith). cored and skinned.
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1/4 cup bacon drippings or can substitute butter
- 1/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 dash nutmeg
How To Make southern fried apples

Step 1In a large skillet, melt bacon dripping or butter. Pour cut up bits of apples evenly over skillet bottom.

Step 2Sprinkle lemon juice over them, then brown sugar, then salt.

Step 3Cover and cook over low heat for 15 minutes until apples are tender a juicy. Sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg.
