rosanne's hot cranberry casserole
This came from a friend many years ago. Now it is "required" at family dinners at holiday time. I use it as a side dish during dinner and only occasionally use as a dessert.

Ingredients
- 3 cups apples, granny smith
- 2 cups cranberries, whole raw
- 1 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 1/3 cups oatmeal, uncooked
- 1.3 cups brown sugar
- 4 ounces butter, melted
- 1 cup walnuts, chopped
How To Make rosanne's hot cranberry casserole

Step 1Peel, core and chop apples. Add to a 2 quart casserole that has been sprayed with Pam.

Step 2Add cranberries and sprinkle lemon juice over the top. Sprinkle the white sugar over the top.

Step 3In a medium bowl, gently blend oatmeal, walnuts, brown sugar and melted butter. Sprinkle that lumpy mixture over the top of the cranberries.

Step 4Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Step 5Can be make ahead of time and frozen. If you can't find fresh cranberries, use canned whole cranberry sauce and cut down on the sugar.
