Sometimes I can get burned out on the regular apple crisp, so I change it up and make this recipe instead. I like to serve it warm with whipped cream. It very good cold too.

Blue Ribbon Recipe

This is a great fruit crisp recipe! A bit different from a traditional recipe by using bran flakes as the topping. The cereal gets toasted adds a wonderful crunch to every bite. The orange flavor from the Tang was a surprise burst of flavor. Super yummy.

Ingredients

  • 1 can sliced peaches, drained (1 lb. 13 oz. can) or you can use 2 pkg's frozen peaches, thawed and drained (12 oz. ea.)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Tang instant breakfast drink
  • 1 tablespoon tapioca (I use Minute Brand)
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cups Post Grape-Nuts Flakes
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Tang instant breakfast drink

How To Make peach crisp

  • Step 1
    Combine the first 7 ingredients in a 1.5 qt baking dish. Mix well. Allow to stand for 15 minutes.
  • Step 2
    Cover and bake @ 375 degrees for 30 minutes.
  • Step 3
    Melt the remaining 2 tbsp of butter in a large skillet; add the cereal. Stir until butter is absorbed. Sprinkle with the brown sugar. Stir and heat until melted.
  • Step 4
    Remove from heat and sprinkle with the remaining instant breakfast Tang drink; mix well.
  • Step 5
    After 30 minutes, uncover baked fruit mixture and top with the cereal mixture. Place back in the oven and bake uncovered for 3 minutes more.
