My mother's peach crisp is SO good--it's right up there with her fabulous apple crisp, or blueberry crisp, or cherry crisp, or any other crisp that she could come up with. The oats are the magic ingredient. 06/23/2018

Ingredients

  • 6 - fresh peaches, peeled and sliced thin
  • 1/2 cup quick cooking oats
  • 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

How To Make my mother's peach crisp

  • Fresh peaches spread in the pan
    Step 1
    Spread the peaches in a lightly greased 9" square pan or loaf pan.
  • Mixing the topping ingredients with a pastry blender
    Step 2
    In a large bowl, mix together the flour, brown sugar, oatmeal, butter, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Stir thoroughly.
  • Peach Crisp, covered with topping, ready for the oven
    Step 3
    Sprinkle the topping mixture evenly over the peaches.
  • Peach Crisp, fresh from the oven
    Step 4
    Bake in a preheated 375º oven for 30 minutes or until topping has started to turn brown.
  • Serving peach crisp with a scoop of French vanilla ice cream
    Step 5
    Serve warm with a large dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream--and enjoy!
