  • 2 1/4 c
    all-purpose flour, divided
  • 1/2 c
    ground almonds
  • 1/2 c
    confectioners' sugar
  • 1 Tbsp
    fresh orange zest, divided
  • 1 c
    butter, softened
  • 1 3/4 c
    sugar
  • 4 large
    eggs
  • 1/3 c
    fresh orange juice
  • 1/2 tsp
    orange extract
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking powder

How to Make Melt - In - Your - Mouth Orange Squares

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

    In a large bowl, combine 2 cups flour, almonds, confectioners sugar, and 1 teaspoon orange zest. Using a pastry blender, cut in butter until mixture is crumbly. Press evenly into the bottom of a 13-x-9-x-2-inch baking pan.

    Bake for 20 minutes, or until lightly browned.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together sugar, eggs, orange juice, remaining 2 teaspoons orange zest, and extract. Combine remaining 1/4 cup flour and baking powder; add to sugar mixture, whisking to combine. Pour over crust.
  3. Bake for 20 minutes, or until set. Sprinkle with confectioners sugar, if desired. Cut into squares to serve.
