Maraschino Cherry Bars
It always reminds me of Christmas because of the buttery bars and the red cherries, but it is wonderful at any time of the year!

Pot lucks here I come! These yummy bars are a surefire party hit. The Test Kitchen
2 1/4 cflour
1 csoftened butter
1 cbrown sugar
1 tspbaking powder
12 ozmaraschino cherries, drained (save the juice) and chopped
1/2 cchopped walnuts (optional)
1 Tbspsoft butter for frosting
1 cpowdered sugar for frosting
How to Make Maraschino Cherry Bars
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Mix flour, sugar, and butter until crumbly.
Press into 9 x 13 pan.
Bake for 20 minutes.
- Blend eggs, brown sugar, salt, baking powder, and vanilla.
Stir in chopped cherries and nuts.
Put on top of crust.
Bake 25 minutes. Let cool.
1 tablespoon soft butter
1 cup powdered sugar
Add the saved cherry juice a little at a time until you get the right consistency to drizzle the frosting over the cooled bars.
