Ingredients For lisa's blackberry cobbler

  • 5 c
    blackberries
  • 3/4 c
    sugar
  • 1 Tbsp
    flour
  • pinch
    ginger
  • pinch
    salt
  • 1/2 stick
    butter or margarine
  • cobbler crust:
  • 3 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 2 Tbsp
    sugar
  • 1 c
    shortening
  • 1/4 c
    water

How To Make lisa's blackberry cobbler

    Preheat oven to 375 F. Wash the blackberries, drain them, and put them into a baking dish or 10X10-inch pan (over a crust if you like). Mix the sugar, flour, ginger, and salt together. Pour over the berries and stir to mix well. Dot the berries with the butter. Place a crust over the berries and bake for 35 to 40 minutes.

    Cobbler Crust: Put the flour, salt and sugar in a bowl. Add the shortening and mix everything together well, using a fork or your fingertips until crumbly. Add the water and mix a form a moist ball of dough. On a floured board, roll out half of the dough to make a crust that fits the bottom of the baking dish in which the cobbler is being made. Press the crust into the baking dish, prick it with a fork a few times, and bake in 375 F. oven for 10 minutes. It should look done but not brown. Cool 10 to 12 minutes, then put the fruit mixture on top. Roll out the rest of the dough, place it on top of the fruit, and prick it with a fork a few times. Brush the top vrust with melted butter and sprinkle sugar. Bake the cobbler at 375 F. for about 35 to 40 minutes.
