My mother-in-law, Stella Curry, taught me so much about cooking. My own mother, Virgie Osborne, was a great cook too. I have always had some big shoes to fill. Mrs.Curry had 16 children so she needed some quick recipes. Here goes!

  • 1 stick
    butter or margarine
  • 1 c
    self rising flour
  • 1 c
    granulated sugar
  • 1 c
    evaporated milk
  • 1 can(s)
    fruit pie filling or large can peaches, drained

How to Make Lazy Man's Cobbler


  1. Preheat oven to 350. Spray a 9x13 pan with nonstick spray. Place one stick of margarine or butter in pan and place in oven until melted.
  2. In large bowl whisk together flour, sugar and milk into a smooth, thin batter. Remove pan from oven and pour batter into melted margarine/butter.
  3. Stir fruit pie filling or canned peaches into batter. Bake 35-45 minutes until top in golden brown. Serve warm with ice cream, whipped cream or cold milk. Then go back for seconds, thirds, whatever.
